Left fronts brake makes popping noise

Ever since i replaced my front axle ujoints and hubs my brakes have been making a strange popping noise that occurs under breaking and happens maybe once every revolution. Its loud and it grinds. It first happened about a month a go, so i took everything apart and put it back togetther and it was fine. Now its back and i dont know why. My mechanic tells me that my caliper is not retracting all the way or something. Could that be it or something else? I think im going to just go get a new caliper because they only cost $20

Also it only does it when stopping below 10mph. If above 10mph the brakes are fine... Another weird thing is that all of a sudden it went away yestarday and my brakes are fine. What could be wrong?

i dont think it is, I mean they've basically have been on there for about a month and are as tight as they can be. absolutely no play at all and they're perfect. And trust me i know what bad ujoints feel like, before i replace them i was driving on horrible ones that had 0 needle bearings in them for 2 years. I do however believe it has something to do with my caliper. I'm going to replace it tomarrow and hopefully it'll be solved.

Just changed mine

I have a 99 WJ and the garage has just changed the front calipers because the left one was sticking on (it wore out the disc in around 18 months). Garage told me that the dealers said it was a known fault.
