Leaking fuel injector grand cherokee

Hi

I have a leaking rear injector on my 2002 GC

It is a diesel, and I know not many people on forum have knowledge of these!

However, I have been told that the engine needs to be droppeed to replace it at a cost of over $1000!

Just wondered if anyone had any experience, and if the injector can be replaced without dropping the block?

Many thanks

You have the 2.7CRD right? With the 2.7 it depends on the injector that needs changing... if it's the 4th and/or 5th then you need to lower the engine to be able to remove those (according to the FSM)
(that of course is with the steering wheel on the left, I don't know what's changed in the UK model)

Thanks Jan

I have just read the same in the manual

Can anyone advise if lowering the engine is a big job, as I am being qouted for 3-4 hours labour, which seems a bit steep!

Thanks again

places like chain auto repair shops and dealers charge by the amount of time the fsm lists to do the job, even if it takes half the time or twice the time for the mechanic to do the work.

take it to a reputable independent and they'll charge you for the actual time it took to work on the vehicle. rates will also often be lower.
