Laundry list, quick question

Ok, so after the snowy fiasco that was my commute to school this morning, I've come up with a list of necessary things to do w/ the WJ.

Replace Axle fluids F & R
Replace TC Fluid
Oil Change
Replace Oil pressure sending unit

So: my question: I know all the correct fluids that I need. Do I need silicone to make my own seal on the diff cover, or are there gaskets from the dealer?

I already know I need the 247 fluid from the dealer, just tryin to cover my bases.

Oh, and I NEED TIRES!

dont forget the trans fluid and filter(s!)

i dont know if they make gaskets for the diff (they dont for the trans BTW) but you only use half of a $3 RTV tube of you go that route. and a gasket would be $10 at NAPA and $1000 at the dealer so i personally could never justify going that route.

Transmission shifts smooth, and the fluid is nice and clean. I'm not too worried about it. More worried about having the correct fluids in the QD system....

Personally I'd buy gaskets. But you can clean everything up and use silocone without any problems.

kevinsoffroad.com has gaskets that are apparently pretty good.

Get a lubelocker for the D30, will make your next gear oil change much easier.

No lube locker option for hte 44a, have to use RTV.

No lubelockers for the D44a unfortunately...

... Just like Nick said.

Nick: shouldn't you be over on the KJ forums telling them how to install an air freshener?

YIKES! Just dropped $170 at the $tealer$hip for gear lube, FM, and TC fluid.....

I guess that's the cost of peace of mind. Going to get started now.

RTV OK to use on D30?

You're just jealous of my more capable, cuter and the aroma of peachez that my rig emits.

Yes you can use RTV on the D30, but dude spend the $15 on a lube locker and wait for it to get there. Its worth it!
