I read his report in 2005 when he published it. He doesnt specifically list the silverstars on his "bad" list, but groups them into the same catagory. Again, in 2005, it was the gen 1 tinted glass rather then the new coating.
He used to have a good writeup on how crappy the gen 1 silverstars were, but, after they made the changes to the product line, he pulled the poor review... it probably helped sylvania make the changes in the first place.

And i figured the sidemarker was easy, i was talking about the three vertical ones on the outer section. Or are those just easy to replace 194/168's as well

Thanks; they look whiter cause they ARE brighter (about 1800 Lumens for the 9012s vs. 1000 for stock 9006s) but when you look at them in "real life", they really look just like regular halogens in terms of the temp/color. That is the good thing about them, they help you see better at night without drawing attention to you with a fake white/blue HID-like color like other aftermarket bulbs out there.

gen 2's are mostly brown bases rather then black, but some are black.
the easiest way to tell is looking at the bulb tint. if its blue, its gen 1, if its purplish and iridescent, its the gen 2. If it cracked or blew within a month of install... its gen1. LOL

Those aren't izn trbl conversions.
Those are aftermarket projector/reflector ones with led accents. Ebay most likely. Let me get a pic of the izn trbl ones

These are Izn Trbl WJ conversions.
Top (uninstalled) are the current versions using the Infinity bi-xenon projector for both low and high beam HID, and the OEM reflector for high beam halogen Bottom (installed) are the original prototype ones with the 350Z low beam only HID and OEM high beam reflector. The pics are urban-yan's WJ. He just bought a pair of the new stle ones, and is selling me the old ones. ![]() ![]()

they cost a minimum of $700, and you supply your own housings, so they can do the chrome limited ones.

TX-WJ: I'm trying to settle a small dispute with someone here.
In your original picture you have the factory lights at what looks to be 10-15 feet from the door, and then your HIR picture is much closer at only a few feet from the door. This has someone arguing with me that the results are misleading Can you humor this guy for me and try to locate the Jeep in the same position as the original bulbs picture and snap a new one with the HIR's and no foglights? That'd be super cool.
