Keyless Entry Sucks!!!!!

My friend has a '98 Grand Cherokee, every time you want to start the car you have to unlock the ignition with the keyless entry fob. WHY THE H3LL is this??? It is the most annoying thing in the world. She got stuck and hour from home with out the fob and couldnt start it. one of our friends had to drive it up to her to find out the batteries were dead. She finally got home at 2 in the morning with her parent waiting to ground her. Why in the world would Jeep put such a stupid thing on the GC??? Anyone have any problems with this?? Or anyone know if just ripping it out (or having it removed) works??

It's a starter disable. There should be a procedure for overriding it in case you lose the fob or the batteries die, something like unlocking the doors, honking the horn, putting your head through the sunroof, and wetting your pants while starting it.

Honestly though, there is a procedure for getting around it. Look in the owner's manual. With aftermarket alarms (or even the factory one in my Subaru) there is a button to push while turning the key to override the starter disable.
