Key won't lock/unlock door

Just to make sure, I tried to unlock my 2003 WJ Laredo with my key. It doesn't work. So, I tried my other key. It doesn't work either. The remote works fine on both key sets but the key doesn't work at all. The tumbler rotates both directions but the locks don't operate.
If my battery goes out in my remote, I'm locked out at worst or I can't lock my WJ at best.
Help.
Rob

If I remember right there is a plastic clip that can break or pop off it is white pull the door panel and you will see what I am talking about.

That is correct, take the inner door panel off and look for the linkage that came unhooked.

I assume ( man I hate doing that ) it is only one door you are having this problem with.? You can still get in by using the other door

A lot of the newer vehicles are going that route. Anything to save a nickel on the assembly line.
