Key Fob Doesn't Work. Help!?!

I replaced the batteries in my keyfob, but it doesn't lock or unlock the car anymore. I followed the directions in the owner's manual and pressed unlock 8 times to reset it, but still nothing. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance,
Tami

If all you did was replace the batteries then it has to be the key itself.
