Just bought a 96 5.2 ZJ PLEASE HELP !!!!

I just bought it and now the check engine light is on. Took it to auto zone and they gave me a paper saying :
No change in map sensor voltage from koeo to koer

Detected no change in MAP sensor voltage.
Failed map sensor
Shorted signal wire
ECM Defective

Now I am new to ZJ 's so please help me out as to how i fix this please. Thank you

1999 Grand Cherokees are WJs (as you correctly said at the end of your post) not ZJs. This subforum might be a bit more help.

Ah, okay. Well, I'll let more experienced guys chip in here as I have no idea how MAP sensors actually work (I've never even pulled mine off and looked at it). Although this gives me an idea for what to do while I clean my throttle body.

It's a diaphragm that gets moved by manifold vacuum.

Either the orifice is obstructed, the sensor is bad, or possibly wiring.
Use the "key trick" and post the code from your odometer so know exactly what the pcm is seeing.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

12 means there's a problem found
13 is MAP sensor
77 is speed control relay
55 means end of codes
