Hello, i am new to this forum. I just bought a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It runs good, but needs a new radiator. I was wondering if there was any known problems with that year, and any other information that might help me. i would post a pic of it, but i dont quite have the Jeep yet. i got to go get it in a few days.

Viscous coupler in the transfer case will eventually go bad if it has the v8.

Your A/C drain might get plugged up and youll have a small swimming pool in the passenger's front floor pan..its an easy, free fix though if you have a drill.

Rear wiper motor might be seized up, which means a new wiper motor or no rear wiper some rear hatches wont open...easy fix just by pulling the interior panel off and adjusting the handle linkage.

Some jeeps have power locks and windows that go bad..but its not very common. My old ZJ did this...would have been expensive to get a shop to fix it but we did it ourselves. If I recall it was a problem with wiring, not the lock or window motor.

fuel pump/sending unit might go bad, which means no fuel delivery, or your gas gauge will act up. My fuel gauge will occasionally drop down to E, not a big deal, and it doesn't happen very often.

If you have the 4.0 engine, the tranny isn't known to be the strongest, but you should be fine

Thanks, It has the 4.0 in it. all that needs to be done to it is the radiator, and needs a new door handle.

nice,but those batt terminals are nasty.change them soon as you can.also heater hoses have been changed and that fan belt shuold be looked at.looks glazed.real preety from the outside,enjoy her.

we have some battery terminals for it. the belt will be replaced when teh radiator is (before it is driven).
