Junkyard visit and a few questions

Used some Christmas money to go hunting for some parts. Found this for $65. And they said they could order me a new header panel for $85. The first yard i went to wanted $100 just for the panel. I told them they could keep it because if i wanted to spend that much I'd order a new one from rockauto ($30 + $70 s+h)

Anyone know what nuts i need to install it (dimensions and/or part number from advanced, napa, autozone)?

Final question(s) whats this angled angle on the frame rail by my gas tank? Is there supposed to be one on both sides? do i put it back on after i install the receiver?

remove that angle plate in the back... then in your hand you will have the correct nut and bolt to go get 2 more nuts and 1 more bolt... pitch angle plate in scrap

There's an idea! i could pass it to my buddy at a metal fab shop. have him duplicate it weld some reinforcements in and make a place to put some shackles and presto tow points for my 2wd street jeep! haha

That sucks that they (you) cut the factory wiring harness off. All that they (you) had to do was unplug it from behind the spare tire panel.

After replacing my header panel just recently I have to tell you that the Chinese crap is garbage. NOTHING fit right and it was a real PITA to get the headlight adjusters back in. I had to ream out the holes and do lots of sanding to even get them in let alone be able to adjust.

If I were you, I'd keep looking for an OEM header panel. They are very hard to find because all you have to do is look at them the wrong way and they crack.

BTW: start spraying PB on those nuts now and do it for a couple of days before you try and remove them. The studs that hold them in are notorious for spinning.

they cut it, unfortunately my parts heep has a dealer installed harness they spliced in, but atleast i can use the wire to do my own.

The header is already ordered and paid for. They had OEM panels with lights included, but as i have 2 jeeps worth of lights already i wasn't going to pay for more. It will be here Wednesday I'll see how it goes. After i get it in my hands i may see how difficult it would be to lay out on the plasma cutter at work and see about cutting one out of galvanized/stainless/aluminum.

Those studs weren't a problem, put my 18v RIGID impact drill on em those nuts just melted off. Now if only the pittman nut on my parts heep would be so cooperative i could make $50!
