Jeep Maintenance

Hi Guys, ill be posting on this thread on what I have done on my jeep and how it is now,
Got this jeep as 3rd owner and the last owner just used it and used without
maintenance.

Im using this as a street jeep, daily office use and not much of an off roader.
Here is what I have done so far.

1. rebuild the rear differential by mechanic ( I should have just bought a whole rear assembly, the sound is still there)
2. change engine oil
3. change transmission fluid
4. change front diff fluid.
5, remove noisy front DS
6. Change brake pads
7. flush radiator, and new cap 18 lbs
8. change belt, idler pulley and tensioner pulley.
9. tie up the ac vent louver to have a front air exhaust while hunting for the leak.
10, change horn and replace button, faulty clock spring.
11. change seat covers
12. change 17 inch rims ( should have been 18)
13. cleaned the IAC

here are the things I need to put back that I have,

1, cv shaft for front
2. new windsheild washer
3. bleed the brakes
4. new thermostat -- (temp rising)

Suggestions very much appreaciated, JY is 350 km away , finally found it

Jeff

Hi!

- Whats wrong with your front driveshaft, and why do you want to put a CV shaft in the front anyway? U-joint shafts last longer.
- Regarding the windhield washer - what part of the washer, the pump or the nozzles?
- Brakes: not too hard just make sure you don't run the reservoir dry, air can get trapped in the ABS pump and you can't bleed ABS pump without a special tool.
- Thermostat is pretty easy to do too, make sure you clean both surfaces before putting them back, and the hole in the thermosat housing should be on top.

Thanks for the advice.

My front DS is a rezpa cv, the boots were torn and giving a clunking noise so i removed it.

My tc case is due for replacement too, but ill put in a 249 because no good mechaniic. I have dint have the previledge to do it my self most of the time.

Yup brakes, i nver taught about the abs pump

the windshield washer, both pump faulty the JY sells the whole container with both pump.

Check the input signals to the fan relay. For the most part, if a fan works at all, it works. If it's only working on one speed, then most likely what's wrong is what is telling it to run.

And my personal opinion ZJ's should ALWAYS have 15" tires on them. 31X10.50X15 to be exact. A 2" budget boost and 31's leave a ZJ looking like what it should have come from the factory. At least in my opinion.

Hi Guys,

I still keep the stock 15, im trying to have 18 with 50 series or 17 with 60
series, reason stability, we live in UAE and even its a dessert area most road are nicely cemented and flat I stability when turning and start from the stop light, actually bought the wrong ride, i should have just opted for a wagon car or CRV, but what can I do, the jeep is the best i can afford then
so just fixed it up to suite my needs.

I tested the fan directly to the battery, this time only the high is working the other wire when connected to the batter does not move the fan, this was before moving when i tested them both.

do you know which triggers the high speed, because the low. i found it but the hi havent figure out yet?

Are you talking about your radiator fan, or your interior blower fan?

As I said, in my opinion, yes.

I think just about every Jeep made looks best on 31x10.50x15's. But that's just me.

Do yourself a favor and replace radiator hoses while you're doing the thermostat. And definitely do the little bypass hose above the water pump. Changing it in a 7-11 parking lot is no fun.
