How so? Other than that they weren't treated well in general, what are some common problems with niners?

If some of the niner only parts go bad, it could be a ***** to get the parts. Especially if they're discontinued.

That's a very good point. I have had very good luck with finding 5.2 parts at local jy. And one of the things I really like about a zj is that there are so many cheap and junked jeeps to pull from.

I may just get another 5.2 since I know this thing pretty well by now. However, I think I would be willing to put the work and money in to restore a nice niner.

We will see how it looks in 6 months or so when I will be ready to purchase another zj.

P.S. god it has been so long since I took my zj out to play. I miss beating the crap out of it on the trails.

My considering trading mine I just bought.

It has paint fading, driver side interior wear, bad VC, useless JET chip, needs sunroof switch,164k miles.

Trading it for a 96 5.2L with 108k miles, only bad thing is it needs a sunroof seal, but its sealed so it doesn't leak right now.

Already have a 97 5.2L with 107k miles and it requires more work than the 96. -___-

I'm mainly bitter that my buddy blew the engine on mine the day I got it.

But yes, there are a bunch of weird niner only parts that can cause headaches.

If I remember correctly, from seeing it in a post, his buddy drove in first gear redlining the whole time for a good 5-10mins?

Five miles down the highway in first gear, bent a rod and cooked the tranny.

There's very few niner parts that cant be sourced out easily and those are body parts; vents/rockers/roof racks/leather. The only parts I see being a real PITA to find would be a used tranny and PCM. The e-fan motor is a Ford unit so they are available everywhere, the alternator can be re-wound cheap or upgraded even cheaper, other than that the camshaft is different but was also used in the 1998-2003 Dakota/Durango R/T with the 5.9 so those can be sourced from any dealer. The exhaust is a non issue since its restrictive on the 5.9 and you'd be better off upgrading than replacing anyways.

As far as body parts go just check ebay uk or pretty much any other country in europe, the ZG Orvis model had the same grill/vents/wheels as the 5.9 and parts are readily available.

Needs parts?

Builds looking good bro. I cannot believe you repaired that roll over damage with a hi-lift jack so well.

Great build thread.
Read every page and enjoyed following along. Sorry for all the bad luck you have had. Even with the trail damage, still looks sweet
