Interior fuse slot 15 or 16 controls interior lighting

All of a sudden there seems to be part of an old fuse stuck in the slot. I have tried the best I could to get most out but now every time I try to put a new fuse in as soon as it touches the slot it fries the fuse. PLEASE HELP any suggestions???? I just got all new LED's and have no interior lighting now.

A short somewhere is causing the fuse to go. Have fun finding it. The main reason I hate wiring is finding shorts

Remove all the lights that are on that circuit. Replace fuse. If it hasn't blown yet reinstall the led lights 1 at a time until the fuse blows. 1 of the led lights could be bad.

I'll pull my FSM wiring diagrams when I get home and have a deeper look.

I was having a similar issue with all my interior lights blowing fuses immediately, never found the problem since it went away randomly and hasn't returned
Is it just your interior lights that don't work when this fuse blows?

As you can see fuse 16 protects a lot of stuff. This is the wiring diagram from my FSM.

If this was a Gulfstream I would say go to a disconnect but since a jeep isn't built that way you need to isolate the wires out of the junction block to find the short. There is also an underwood lamp, courtesy lamp relay, halo lamp and body control module. No easy way to put it but disconnect EVERYTHING in these diagrams. If it still shorts that you need to cut wires and resplice them back.

This is what I use on my wiring

no only lights that work are the little lights on the front doors

As soon as the fuse touches the slot it blows with a puff of smoke with it. Doesn't even give me a chance to push it in. I'm assuming because of the broken metal pieces in there from whatever fuse was stuck in it and broke.

What about taking that fuse block out and getting a new one from the junkyard? Is that an option? or even possible? This is really frustrating

It is an option. You could remove the contacts for fuse 16 from the block and carefully lay the fuse across the terminals. That removes 1 possible cause.

I feel your pain. I'm an avionics tech on jets and I get the occasional "circuit breaker 9 is tripping" squawks. The diagram shows up
To 10 possible issues and I gotta remove them 1 at a time to find the culprit. Electrical sucks but when you get the hang of it it is a breeze

How does the fuse block come out? I don't want to do any further damage
