Intakes

I have a 1999 laredo V6 and I was wondering which intake could not only perfom but give the car a nice growling noise

I have the K&N FIPK with Amsoil Pre-Filter and Filter. It gave me better throttle response, I am unsure on power as I did not see a noticeable difference. To get more power, needs to be combined with a hi-flow cat and back exhaust system.

Ya but it is probably going to be the same for the I6. Both looks and performance.

Here's my cheapo ebay intake with an Amsoil EAAU filter installed. I need to get a heat sheild built. It does make alot of noise and the seat 'o' pants meter says--not a big gain. Exhaust is next, that will help, too.

dang, i was going to say go with the AEM brute force, but they dont make it for your year. I think its better than K&N because for about the same price you get a dryflow filter (no oil needed) and a throttle body spacer with the system. You can maybe piece something together off of ebay. The AEM filter for my V8 part number is 21-2049D and measures 3.5" x 9" and comes with the clamp and the heat shield is 20-8302.

Throttle body spacer is a paperweight. It's junk, until someone can prove otherwise. If the intake wasn't designed with enough interior volume, well, that's the intake's design flaw.

That metal e-Bay intake could use some header wrap around it to insulate the intake air charge from soaking excess heat.

K&N Series is the way to go. Make sure it's plastic, stay away from the metal ones...

Why should you stay away from the metal ones such as AEM? Is it because of heat?
