Instrument Panel will not light up

my head lights work fine and so do my interior dome lights but my instrument panel, ac/heat unit, and my parking lights will not light up. i drive a 1994 jeep grand cherokee and i recently installed a 1200 watt amp for subwoofers and i have heard that amps can interfere with the vehicle's electrical systems. i changed the fuse for the interior lighting and instrument panel with no success. help please

Being that your parking lights are also dead, I would check the headlight switch. The instrument lights are usually fed off the parking light circuit (I don't have a manual with me now).

It sounds like a short to me. Tracking that down should be fun. Best of luck. I hate electrical issues, but often they're not as hard to find and fix as you start out thinking. Let's hope this is one of those times.

I have one doing the same thing. Short to ground at the fuse when the headlights are on. No rear lights. No dash lights. Haven't got into it yet. Just swaped the switch. Let me know if you find it and I'll do the same
