Ignition Switch

I just bought a 1993 GC, in which the ignition switch was popped, so that it could be repoed. I test drove the Jeep, and it ran great, just had to start it with a screwdriver. Now, the security alarm has gone off, I disengaged that, using alarmtech site. But it still won't start. I'm thinking that is from the Ignition being popped, and that all Chryslers, and Jeeps, had security keys. Has anyone ran into this problem, and would anyone know an easy fix? Thanks, Ken

no coded keys

i think that the alarms are kinda automatic

mine just turns on

unless you unlock the door then the alarm goes off and disables the vehicle

i really dont think that the alarms can be made not to function

the door locks and the rear hatch disable the alarm

if you lock the door then that turns on the alarm

the easiest fix would go buy a new lock cylinder

take your vin # an they can make the key the same as the vehicles was...

then it will also fit the door....

wally world broke mine .. i think it was around 100 bucks but the parts person keyed it to fit the jeeps original keys

someone else may have a better answer and this may not all be right but

I'm going to get the new ignition today, but I did disable the alarm. there is a way, and I did it, because way to many people have had the same problem. Had to ground out a wire, that goes to the drivers door lock mechanism. (purple and yellow). It was going off, when I got the vehicle, and I tried to reset it, thru using pass. door lock, and tailgait lock, but it still went off. Lights would flash, horn would honk, and dash had securtiy flashing. Thats why I was told to disable the alarm. told a faulty wire somewhere. So, what happens when alarm goes off? just sound and sights, or will it disable the Jeep? Thats what I'm trying to figure out.
