Idle Surge???

I'm posting for a friend who owns a WJ and hasn't made his way to this board yet...

He owns a 4.7L V8 WJ.

When he starts the vehicle up the idle surges and continues to do this for quite sometime until it's warmed up.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

He is at a loss and wanted me to ask around before he paid a diag fee.

No dash lights are illuminated...

I can get more information from him if needed.

Sounds like the classic IAC (Idle Air Control) valve failure. That's where I would start.

Can't be cleaned out?

Just replace it?
