I swapped mine but it was mainly for the oil change reminder. It did show the 4wd mode, and light bulb messages but didnt detect any doors open.

It also beeped at me saying bad coolant level sensor since I didnt have one. (I do now since i had a overflow tank leak and replaced it with one that had it and the connector was there so it was just plug in and go)

And also beeped at me saying low windshield wiper fluid (Again i didnt have the sensor)

I took it out and havent put it back in yet.

I'm giving mine away if you want it.

I hate the tailgate reminder, and the T-case I got wasn't compatable with the sensor, so I don't use it for the 4x4 anyway.

I'm looking for a plastic plate to put over the hole to put switches on.

When i put it in it didnt detect any doors or tailgate being open which i thought was a feature of it.

Never got a tailgate open..

I would pull yours out and see how many connectors you have back there.. Ive heard some people say they only have 1. While mine had two..

Other than telling you about coolant sensors failing mysteriously, what useful things does the digital VIC do anyway?

The non-digital vic will tell you if your low on coolant.

I believe the digital vic added the following (feel free to correct me)

Clock/date
oil change reminder
Doors open
low wiper fluid (non-digital may do this as well i know theres another unused light there on mine)
low coolant
low oil (some years)
bulb burned out

More?

Basically it likes to annoy you with beeps.

i hate the digital one. my old zj had one and the majority of things it showed an error for were false. stick with the standard one, it will save alot of headaches.

I've a question of my own about the non-digital VIC:

On mine the left side has "Full Time" "Part Time" and "Lo" lights, however just the full time, and part time lights up. If I put my truck in "Lo gear", just the "Part Time" lights up, is this normal? Also, the right side of it, has some kind of icon light also, but i've never seen it light up before either. Are they not souposed to? or do you think a bulb is out?

Hey guys,

Speaking of VICs. You guys know if anyone has been able to reprogram one? It's sort of a rainy day project I've been thinking of doing to make it less annoying and more helpful...

Low range is a part time position, so that part is working.

Don't know about the other, as I have a digital.
