Mine occasionally took a mile to unlock, but usually if I was rolling with the tranny in neutral when I put it in 2wd, it worked great. I did have to back up about 200 ft and throw the wheel to full lock while doing so once or twice, but it worked great all the time after that.

Other option, leave it in fulltime till spring. Won't hurt anything, gas mileage should be the same, and you'll have better grip.

so back up and crank the steering wheel to lock and that should do it?

I have had to back up a long ways and sometimes do the backing up in circles or pulling forward a fewtimes to get my old t-case out of 4 wheel

Check your linkage and fluid as well.

Mine shifted better with a new batch of ATF in the case.
