I smell oil

after a drive i smell burnt oil. i notice a few drips on the garage floor but nothing life threating, it's not a pool, just a few drips overnight. I suppose an oil leak could come from a million different places. Just thought I'd mention it, see if anyone had any thoughts. I just changed to the high mileage Quaker State to hopefully seal up any age related holes or cracks.

obviously look all over the engine for fresh oil, and use a dye and a blacklight if needed, but i would look more further up on the engine, sounds like the oil is dripping down the engine, where it is burned.

The oil is probably leaking from the valve cover gasket and burning on your exhaust manifold. My Lumina does that, it wasn't bad but now its leaving a huge puddle of oil in the driveway so, it time to fix it, unfortunately its the back gasket which will be very fun to get to.

Yea, I thought that too, but even if I don't spill any or weeks after the oil change it's still doing it I figure it's something else.

get some dye and put it in and use a light to find the leak or clean the engine with engine bright and look to see where you see fresh oil.

Where might this "Valve cover gasket" be located? Also, dye has been mentioned, you suggesting I put a dye into my oil to see where the leak might be coming from?

The valve cover gasket is in between the valve cover and the head.

and the dye... yes, that's how you expose a hard to find leak...

x2, The first thing i would do is tighen all the bolts on the valve cover. If that doesn't work, look for oil on the enigine and trace it back to the source.
