Hummers and Grands on the same trail

Was driving a local trail day before last that is known for its abundant water crossings. Well in the 100s. Total trail length was about 10 miles of diff bashing rock. Anyway I usually take my Vamtac on 37s and go with a group of H1s (nice crowd), except this time i took my WJ (1st time after the 6" lift) and went with some customers from my shop who were mostly running 2" lifted Zjs and Wjs.

Just as we enter the trail much to my dismay, i see a group of hummer H2s. Some even pimped with chrome for the street. I knew one of the owners. The kind of guy that thinks his H2 is a Mustang on the highway and spends 1 hour outside starbucks everyday revving his engine and adding more chrome. I did not see a tow rope in sight. Only one H2 was running a ramsey 8000 winch.

So anyway as our little group drives past we hear them shout ' dont get stuck in those little cars!' I laughed like hell to myself and yelled back nicely' see you down the trail'. A buddy from the H1 crowd was riding in my WJ. He was cracking up.

So the day goes by and we are about half way down to the exit and we come around a gravel mound about 30 ft high and we see tire tracks up the front and alot of people standing on the top looking confused. hey its the H2 owners!

its maybe a 30 degree slope, what amazes us is that we know on the other side it has a slope of more than 50 degrees and a vertical drop off just b4 the part of the river thats 8 ft deep. We got up and had a look and it was Mr Chrome in his black H2. Well the back of it anyway. The rear tires were on the ledge and the whole front of the truck up to the dash was submerged. He just slid down the gravel mound, dropped off the ledge and nose dived.

He got served... Our group never helped him. We couldnt pull him back up and hell we could never pull from the other side. He needs an airlift.

I think the truck is still there. Anyone need a set of 35" nittos on 22" welds?

I wish i had pictures

That mind set is also available on a lot of Jeep sites. They believe that they are unstoppable just because of the vehicle they've chosen to drive.

Trail manners and mindsets are what we make them.

Drivers experience and knowledge can outweigh equipment anytime.
I bet he never does that again!

Many jeepers also believe they are not only more off road capable than Hummers, but morally superior to their drivers.

ive got some pics of a ride we did and we brought along one of our friends whos parents just bought him a brand new h3. after bragging at school for a week about how the salesman told him if you just push the button it goes through anything, he decided to take it out. it didnt go to well for him you could say. took 2 jeeps, a winch, and a truck to pull him out.

that was my moron friends idea and all we had at the time. it came with the hummer's "emergency off road kit" still wasnt that intimidating though, as it took the chain, a 9000 pound winch, my zj, my friends cj5, and a silverado to pull it out. Those hummers are relatively heavy and sink in soft surfaces quite easilly.

Shoulda had a wrecker come out and send the bill to the salesman that told him it would go through anything.
