Your not an idiot and I dont recall anyone calling you that. You simply took on a project that was beyond your knowledge. You asked alot of questions and you should now have a better understanding of how everything works. That counts for something in my book. Do a little more research on differentials and how they are setup and you might be able to do it yourself next time.

Hey guys. I wanted to give an update. I went to the dealer yesterday, they removed the front drive shaft and test drove it and the noise went away. They said my front diff is fine, but I need to replace my drive shaft.

They also told me that my oil sending unit is leaking and the carriers in the rear diff are starting to go.

Do you think I could / should replace my CV style front drive shaft with a U Joint type drive shaft like this:

I would think ujoints are stronger then cvs but maybe not as quiet/smooth? I dunno just my guess.

Yeah and what do you think about that oil sending unit, is that a big job?
