according to the Jeep catalog, a 97 5.2 liter has 190 HP and 225 torque, how does the 98 have much more?

Not only that, he asked how much at the wheels, not at the crank. I'd guess about 20-25% driveline loss? Adding mods then guessing at new hp and torque amounts is almost like throwing darts blindfolded, if you really want to know take it to an AWD dyno.

You read the wrong listing! You read the 4.0 litre six cyl. According to Motor Trend Mag (1/98), The 5.2 Grand has 220hp and 300lb/ft. Zero to 60 in 8.2 secs. and 1/4 mile in 16.3 @82.6mph
60-0 in 134ft. Your muffler should give a decent amount of power, add an intake and make the magic complete!

Do you really think a Magnaflow added +15 hp and +15lb/ft?

Naah, More like 5-10 on each end. I thought the Hp and torque ratings were higher.

50 bazillion horsepower.

Really there's no way to tell how much more hp/tq you received from the muffler swap unless you took it to a AWD dyno as stated above.
