140,000 96 GC with 4.0.. Bad VC and some front end components that the VC has made go bad ball joints, tie rod ends etc.. transmission is going out and it leaks a drop of antifreeze a day, havent really looked to see where its coming from. other than those it runs great just cant stomp on it in 1-2. Looking for a junk yard dog i can get with decent tranny and TC to swap in and possibly a extra tire/rim since mine didnt come with a spare
94 4.SLOW w 170,000...i have done a lot but as of right now just oil pan & gasket, rear main, transoutput seal, t-case input seal, trans diptube seal and upper & lower balljoints, like I said I have done a lot but couldnt ask for a better Jeep, thing is great
just bought mine, 96 4.0 with 153k already fixed the busted lights and blown random bulbs. biggest hurdle now is the front end work that needs to be done. otherwise a trooper no real leaks (small exhaust that will stay for now) just wish i was driving it yesterday and not my brand new car when a woman decided to rear end me. not because i don't like it but because it would have held its own much better unlike my ford fusion. but that being said i have a 2012 fusion SEL with every option available. but some days i rather the ZJ
Both rear wheel seals
Rear pinion seal
Transmission output seal
Front/rear track bar bushings
Steering box on it's way out
Front/rear upper control arm bushings
Oil filter adapter/rear main seal
Even with all these needed repairs, the ZJ has never left me stranded/broken down in the two years of ownership. I go wheeling every other weekend, submerging it in water and beating the hell out of it. And it's still more reliable then most of my friends $15,000 vehicles.
One more - I haven't been able to open my rear driver's door since I bought it. The PO said it was something to do with the child lock. That would be a nice fix!
116,000, doing front control arms this weekend along with painting the cladding(if its nice out), also eventually needs an exhaust manifold but waiting for a 99+ intake on Ebay so i can do them at the same time.
anyone on here with 100k miles or less i envy you. but i have 203k and it leaks oil and a lil tranny fluid has unibody issues and my amp just went a week ago. luckily thats it hah. oh and it takes lots of cash to get up to 40s. a shop nearby has one on 45s or 54s with huge *** axles under it and a lift outta this world he said he had 10 grand just in the front end.
165,000 and after a recent heater core replacement and some modules with good lights in the dash everything is great. Runs well and still no front end hop from the 249. I wonder if the PO replaced the TC or VC sometime before trading it in. Have done a great deal of work since I got it. Radiator, water pump, diff bearings and axle seals, brakes, swapped carpet and regular fluid changes.

Our 1st '97 White, ZJ Ltd, 5.2, The parts Jeep for 5 years...R.I.P. Sent to Pic-A-Part 5/17/2013
96 5.2 235,000 as of today. transmission slips going into OD. Bad u joint in the rear somwhere.needs cv axles, front brakes, and cv joint for front ds. Dome lights dont work had to pull fuse cuz they wont turn off. No defrost. Battery, alt., and starter all replaced in 2012. original engine runs like a beast and showing no signs of letting up.
1994 Grand Cherokee 5 speed stick with 216000 miles. Original clutch, water pump, front and rear gears, head gasket, the only thing replaced other than normal maintenance
has been the power steering pump...twice. The Jeep runs perfectly, doesn't leak (!), and isn't the least bit rusty.
The only thing wrong now is the drivers seat is worn out. Gonna go to a junk yard this weekend and try to find a match.
