How The Heck Do You Take The Stock Fixed Antenna Off

Seriously has me stumped. I haven't used it in forever, I want to either just take it off for good or just buy a nub antenna. Problem is I can figure out for the life of me how it comes off and I don't want to just keep putting gouges in the mount..

Words of wisdom?

The antenna part just unscrews from the mount?

Shouldn't be that difficult, mine does it on it's own and I keep having to tighten it.

Lloyds moovit might work, but yea the antenna just screws off. Makes me wonder if the antenna is rusted in whats the rest of the jeep look like lol.

Not budging. That's how I assumed it came out. That's how it is on my friends XJ. I'd much rather have it be loose than stuck on..

What is it that comes off, I have a little metal ring with three groves at the bottom of the antenna shaft. Does that come off, or just the antenna portion, or is that all one piece..?

Jeep is actually in great shape. Other than the rocker panels being gone, courtesy of New England road salt, not a speck of rust anywhere.

Anywhere special I have to go for that Lloyds Moovit?

The slag from welding will (first hand experience) but I cant imagine sparks from grinding doing anything, not really that hot. But that's why they make flash paper. Protects surfaces from spark damage.

I've replaced mine before. It should just screw off. Mine was stuck on but I used a pair of pliers for some leverage and was able to get it.

They make an antenna nut wrench that fits those three grooves, but I don't know if that would help you. Its the dissimilar metals, the nut and the base.
