How do you service the 4wd switch?

Need some help,I have a 1994 Grand Cherokee and yesterday I was driving down the road and on the service screen it said, service 4wd switch and the wheels on the screen were blinking. I looked in the owners manual and found nothing about it. So the question is what does it mean? and what do I have to do?

the switch on the transfercase that tells the computer what mode you're in is either bad or sticking in a position that the computer can't recognize.

pull it out and clean it up, if that doesn't help get a replacement if you're that concerned by it.

I serviced mine by unplugging it. I know when I put my jeep in 4wheel drive or low range, don't need that thing dinging there bugging me.
