how do i clear out DTC codes?

from searching, i was able to learn how to read CEL codes.

you need a code reader, of to cycle the ignition 50 times after the problem is fixed. If you clear it with a reader, it will store a code cleared code for 50 cycles or something though due to emissions requirements

Some fault codes disappear after 3 starts (if not sooner) when the problem is fixed. Whether fixed or not, disconnecting the battery for a while will erase the codes. However, if the problem is not fixed, the code or codes will come right back.
