How do I change serpentine belt in my 5.2 v8?

How do I change the belt on my 97 grand with the 5.2 V8? Do I just losen the nut on the pully? Will this make the belt slip right off? Do I need to torque it back to a particular spec or just make it tight. I was told this has an automatic tightener. Anyone who has done this, feel free to give me recommondations. Thanks!

the tensioner rotates clockwise, use a wrench to move it, remove the belt when you relieve the tension. then reverse the order to install

yes. the belt has a self adjuster so once the car starts running it should correct itself if you are off a little

Facing the motor the tension pully will be on your left, just below and to the left of the Alternator. You will need a 15mm socket, preferable a 1/2 inch drive. As moto said your rotate the pully clockwise and the belt will be loose. placing the new one on is simple.

good luck

and if you have an older one that doesn't have the little diagram of how the belt goes around the pullys, make sure you draw one!

I had to remove my battery to get enough leverage to extend the tensioner 100%
Before that.I couldn't get the belt on.
After that,it took me like 30 seconds.

It's a wise idea to remove your battery anyway when working with electrical components on your vehicle.

So this is really easy? Are there any videos of this? All I could find was a V6 video and a video for a V8 on how to replace the tensioner not just replace the belt, so it was more involved.
