How To : Disable your alarm on your ZJ

Maybe this will stop all of the alarm questions.

If this could be added to the FAQ or something it would be great.

first you need to take off your door panel

there are a total of 5 screws

then just pull the door panel off... all that is holding it on is clips... be sure to unhook any electrical connectors so that the door panel can come completely off

once inside, find the purple wire with a yellow tracer.. it will be in the bundle of wires

Again Matt, that picture is a work of art. Truly amazing. I would probaly do this, if it wasn't for the fact that my alarm hasn't given me any problems.

I like the disclaimer note! Good thing I don't have an alarm or I'd have to be looking out for Tommy and his tack hammer.

Yes. I did it on my 96 when I had an issue with it not starting and thought it was related to the alarm.

1st - Matt you truly are a "paint" artist! I am very impressed.. lol
2nd - does disabling the alarm system stop operation of the keyless entry or just the alarm system? I wouldn't mind stopping the alarm but would like to keep the keyless entry!

grounding that wire just makes the alarm stay disarmed all of the time. That wire goes to they key switch(I think, its been a while) which grounds it when the key is turned to unlock. So the alarm is still functional just not armed

Does anyone have a picture of which bundle that purple wire with the yellow tracer is in? I found a purple wire but with a darker purple or black tracer.
