How to cool your engine for dummies
So I have some heating issues iwht the jeep, nothing major but would like to get it fixed before I head out to pismo in a month. Some things that i would noticed is probably common with all vehicles and that is after a lot of off roading the engine will get hot and my gauges go loco, i just want to add something so it can cool it down a little more better than the stock fan. Would adding some aftermarket fans help out? If so what kind can i do?
Thanks,
Alonzo

do a search on Taurus fan swap / e-fan swap / 5.9L fan swap
those are all about swapping in electric fans with switches to turn em on whenever you want

IMHO you don't want to remove the mechanical fan, but add an extra 'pusher' fan in front of the radiator.
Really though, you should figure out why it's overheating - bad coolant? plugged radiator? bad radiator cap? bad thermostat? bad water pump? bad fan clutch?

you should consider hood louvers to keep the engine bay a bit cooler from that extra heat, saves your hoses and such.

any details on the extra "pusher" fan. I've had mine tested and was told that everything checks out and it's a case of larger tires and a heavy trailer load with the heat/wind of summer. I'd love to install another fan as I think this would be a cost effective solution!

power wash the radiator, mud can make it over heat, also a lower temp thermostat can help

I couldn't figure out why my Lumina always ran a little hot, then I ended up having to flush the system when I had a heater tube gasket burst. The fluid was pretty dirty and now it runs real cool unlike before, I usually ran at like 210-220 on a hot day and now it stays around 180-190.

I really wouldn't recommend a lower temp thermostat.
I would start by draining the radiator and flushing the system. You might also replace the thermostat with the OE spec'd one and see if that helps. If not look into swapping an e-fan on there.

i run a 180 cause i tow a boat, and i have an engine block heater and it allows more of my coolant to heat by the block heater in the winter
