How to adjust the TV Cable on a 97 ZJ

Hey folks,

I created this video just the other day.

Thought it might be useful to the ZJ Peeps here.

I have lots of other automotive vids on my channel, and I'm always adding more. Several vids are already about the ZJ, and I like to post them here when I get them done.

(yeah, that was a shameless plug for my YouTube channel, lol)

I'm starting to do a lot of howto videos on lots of cars.

Are there any howtos that you guys would like to see? I'm looking to film easy tasks that can give newbies the confidence to work on their own vehicles.

Things like brakes, belts, basic maintenance that, on a jeep could be a bit challenging.

Since I want to put a drain plug on my 42REs pan, I will have to pull it off again soon, and I may shoot a video about how to replace the governor and solenoid.

What else can you guys suggest that would be helpful to the community?

Nice video, thanks!

If its not too complicated, maybe something with the NP249, or rear diff?

Heck, checking/replacing fluids in the diffs and TC would probably help a lot of casual folks.

Hmm. Good idea. My TC needs a fluid change. I'll add it to the list! I just did the fluids in my diff, so I really don't want to tear into those again.

If you guys subscribe to the YouTube channel, you can get email notifications when I upload new vids. Of course, if they're Jeep-related, I'll post them here, as well.

Great instructional video. Alot easier to understand than just reading directions, if your not a mechanic and know all the part names.
Thanks for that!

Honestly, I don't know. I'd have to look at a V8 ZJ to be sure. I do know that there is another type of adjuster out there that uses a push-button, but I'm not exactly sure which models used it and which used this design.

If you look under the hood of your V8 ZJ and see the same type of adjuster (the kind with the little clip you remove) then the process would be the same.

What you're doing here is making sure that as soon as the throttle moves, it starts pulling on the cable. The way that the adjustment is performed may vary from model to model or from brand to brand, but the basic procedure will be the same.

If you post a pic of all the cables coming into the throttle on your V8 ZJ, I can tell for sure.

I did a little digging and found this pic of the engine from a 95 ZJ with a 5.2. It uses the same adjuster as the one in the video.

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but I found out how to adjust it on a V8 ZJ.

Maybe you can make a more in-depth video on how to. Just like in your video, just not taking out clip, but pushing it in..
