Home made snorkel

I have a 98 zj 5.2 . I have several off road mods and the one that gets the most attention is my home made snorkel , I have 3 inch PVC running to a 4 inch coupling with a filter inside back to 3 inch to the intake , the problem I have is my safari snorkel doesn't filter all the water out in the rain and the snorkel filled up with just enough water to overflow into my throttle body , thank god it blew the sensors first and that stopped from blowing the engine , I'm looking to run a dual system with PVC valves but am wondering will going from 3 inch to 2 inch have a major effect or should I brain storm a new idea, I want to run 3 inch to two inch ball valve , with a T with one part going to another valve and the other going to the throttle body, , on the other end of the valve have a regular filter , this way I can controll when the snorkel is taking in the air or when the regular filter is , but wondering if going from 3 inch to 2 is gunna have an effect , any thoughts guys ?

Just an idea, on the snorkel for water, I would use a 3"pipe fitting and put like a 5" tube to create a "bucket" before the filter to catch water. You can tap in a bolt to drain it. Also instead of a ball valve, look into an exhaust dump. You can get an electric one so you don't have to ever leave the vehicle. I think cutting down to 2" would put more air restriction on your motor though. Don't know for sure.

I have a 3-4 for the filter but I still ran into a water issue so I was looking for a valve system, i want to measure the stock tube cause I think it's 2 1/4 so I'm not sure how much of a difference 2 would be compared to stock . Will have to do more research
