Home made sliders-How to attach?

I am in the process of making a set of sliders for my ZJ. My question is how should I attach the to my ZJ? I don't have pics at the moment. I was thinking about using grade 8 bolts are something to attach them to the frame and small bolts to attach it to the pinch seam. Any suggestions?

Weld them? Otherwise grade 8 for sure on the pinch and frame.

I am not going to weld them to my jeep, encase I ever want to remove them. Running bolts threw the frame will not weaken the unibody at all?

Unless you drill 1000 holes in it, no.

look at the install instructions at JCR/IRO/kevins/ect to see how they mount sliders and use the same method.

use self tapping bolts in the frame and use self tapping screws in the pinch seam. thats exactly how 99% of the aftermarket ones attach.

I am afraid the self tapping bolts might eventually pull out.

you would think but if the slider is designed right and resting on the rocker youll be fine KORs sliders use self tappers and are pretty much indestructable, i dont know of one company that runs a bolt or sleve through the frame.

I'll use self tapping bolts on the frame and regular bolts on the pinch seam. That should hold it, if not I will just reinforce it till it holds.

not sure if youll be able to use regular bolts on the pinch seam, access to the outside of the pinch seam will be tough to impossible once the slider is on.

You do not want to go through the "frame" with a carriage style faster. I made mine and welded them on and could have the sliders off in 15 minutes. They are 3/16" with 1/4" arms. You just want to stitch weld them on. Small 1/2" weld let cool etc .. If you are totally against welding them just use the high grade self tapping bolts. Drilling holes will weaken the unibody some but a few in each mount does not matter. You will want to drill out the mounts first and then drill small holes 1/8"-3/16" for the self tappers to make it easier. Did you run a piece of angle or flat stock for the pinch seam/body ?
