Holy CRAP! My sunroof EXPLODED!!!

OK, I was driving along, everything was good...then all of a sudden BAM!!! Huge explosion. I'm like, WTF was THAT?! I opened the little thing that exposes the sunroof, and to my surprise, it turns out the glass of the sunroof exploded into a million little pieces!!! HOLY HELL!!!! WTF?! WHY would that happen...like, no apparent reason! Am I going to have to pay money to get this fixed! It seems like negligence or some ****. I AM PISSED!

Yes, that will probably be something you need to pay for. What kind of GC?

Were you on the open road or going under an overpass? Could have been a rock thrown. Taking a sharp turn or on a bumpy road?

If the sunroof wasn't fully closed maybe the wind was making it vibrate.

What year is your Jeep and is it still under warranty.

glad your ok

This is a first I believe.

I seem to remember reading somewhere of a guy having his sunroof blow off on the interstate, but never something like this.

The Jeep is a Grand Cherokee, 2002 Limited. I was on the open highway. No overpass in sight.

I obviously can't fix a busted up sunroof myself...any idea how much something like this might set me back???

did you call your insurance or you just have a liability insurance on it?
I'd say try junk yard for WJ s.roof and take it to any body shop

I think there's a good chance insurance will cover it. I have glass protection, or something.

I have had the same thing happen to me on a car, except it was the pass front door glass.....turns out that the PW motor was placing to much stress on the glass and it broke it...replaced the glass and before I could put the door panel on, it broke while I was standing 6" away.....scary _hit!....anyway, the next window I watched as I rolled it up and saw that the glass, once it reached the top, it was being bowed outward.....not sure how our sunroof's motor operate, but sounds similar

The comprehensive part of your insurance should cover your sunroof replacement, most times in full.
