hitch mounting question

i'm helping a friend get a hitch he pulled from a junkyard onto his ZJ and i'm noticing on one side the studs are slightly bent towards the tank and the other side they appear to have been ripped out completely

i'll try to get some pics as soon as i can but i definitely could use some suggestions here the side with the studs missing the holes are bent outward and the surrounding metal is a bit bent

Sounds like it took a major rear end hit. If you get hit with a hitch it bends the unibody all out of shape.

if you could get it lined up i wouldn't tow anything more than a bike rack with it though. that zj probably took a hard hit with a hitch already installed previously.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.
