High Mileage Jeeps?

Greetings! I'm new to this board but not so new to Jeeps. I've got a 2001 JGC with 158,000 miles (all that I put on since I bought it new in 2001). Are there any others out there with high mileage jeeps? I'm in sales and have to drive a lot and my husband is worring about me traveling with a vehicle with such high mileage. I've never had any trouble out of it except for the rotors (which is apparently a 2001 issue!). How much longer is Jeep going to go? We are just trying to determine if I should sell mine and get a 03 or 04 Jeep or just keep with this one for a while. What's the longevitiy of these?

Thanks! Blueheelers

I have a 2001 with the 4.7L V8. I am only 17, and my dad gave it to me, but before he did he managed to get 180k on it, MUCH off road. Alot of the bushings were worn out when I got it (the offroading he did basically every day was the cause), but thet engine was. and still is running fine!

with cross country driving you can squeeze another 50K or so out of it AVG. i had a 93 with 205K then i sold it to some guy 100 miles away and i saw him the other day when i went to my country house in the same town... it was running fine. it must have 206K or 207K by now.
you got a good car to last you.

If everything is running great I see no reason why it won't stay that way. The 4.0 that you have has a good reputation of lasting a long time. Just make sure you keep up on fluid changes and such and I think you will be fine.

Forgot to mention, I crawl over large rocks and various other obstacles all the time as well, so when it's not on the road, it's off! I try to go every three weeks, but work has been killing me lately.

Great question as I've been thinking the same question. It might be nice to have a new Jeep or possibly Durango, but it sure is nice not having a car payment.

Just turned 133,000 on my 1999 GC Laredo with the 4.7l V-8. Still runs strong, doesnt use a drop of oil, and rides pretty good - especially after I added an aftermarket rear sway bar. Not completely trouble free but I consider most issues to be acceptable use issues:

Plugs, fuel filter, iac @ 100,000
Transfer case rebuild (Viscous coupler / chain) - replaced at 105,000
Main computer at 110,000
second set of rotors WITH new calipers @ 105,000
new shocks @ 105,000
Driver side power lock @ 115,000
Rear sway bar (old sway bar bushings were shot) @ 130,000
oil - every 3000 - currently using valvoline maxlife

I had 115,00 on my '97 when I towed a pop-up camper and a cargo carrier from Fairbanks, AK to Maryland, via Oklahoma, and didn't have a single problem. My last Jeep, an '88 Wrangler, had 180K on it when I towed a tandem axle trailer from OK to Denver, and no problems there. I've come to rely on Jeeps for their reliability, as long as you take care of your baby.

my parents have a 91xj 4.0 with 250k and all it has wrong is a rear main leak. it still has a lot of power you would never realize the mileage by driving it.
