ok crazy issue now so i messed around with the linkage and it is now out of 4 lo...BUT!! now it seems the gears moved up and are out of alignment...like the frist gear is part time>full time>neutral> 4lo...it seems as if 2wd is no longer there

Have you tried adjusting your shift linkage and spraying the crap out of it with WD 40 or something..

Find your shift linkage and loosen the adjuster nut on it then follow the linkage to the t case and take a 14mm wrench and turn the nut counter clockwise.. See if that gets you into 2WD.. Then put the handle inside in 2 and tighten it back up..

Spray it and try to shift thru the gears...

Loosen the linkage, and get underneath and use big pliers to move the shift lever on the TC to the 2wd position. If you can't get it into 2wd that way, there's trouble with the TC.

Ok I know this post is old but I got stuck 2 tracking the other day and since then I have a funny "bearing" Type sound coming from the TC and now it won't shift into 4.. And seems like it's not in 2 either.. I tried moving all the linkage and lubed it up real good, everything moves good except for the link right at the TC, it doesn't move AT ALL.. I tried to turn it with giant 2' channel locks but nothing..
