Help a newb decide on a budget boost setup!

Hi,
I have a 1998 ZJ, 4.0, 242, etc . . . I'm looking into a budget boost as an xmas present. I plan on purchasing BFG A/T's, 31x10.5x15, and I was looking at Kevin's BB kit with the 2.25" spacers, bumpstop extensions, and rear spring post extensions($130). I'm also interested in doing new shocks at this time, and I really have no idea what to choose. If possible, I'd like the whole thing to cost under $300 without too much of a sacrifice in ride quality. I understand that I won't be able to get top of the line stuff for this price, but what would everyone's reccomendations be? I do some light wheeling, but the jeep spends 95% of its time on the road.

Thanks,
Dave

that kit is a good setup for what your looking for... as far as shocks...i recomend getting some kind of gas shock.

that is because gas shocks have a lot of down force, and that should help with traction.

also dave, i have a set of 5 BFG A/T's 31X10.5 R15 that have about 90% tread
i am asking for $550, but i am a little flexible.

I hope that is not 300 with the tires I personally would go with springs first you wont get 2.25" out of them but you can always add a BB later and springs add more "value" in terms of tow capcity and off road ability. Springs, And shocks no need for bump stop extensions. Also if I where to do it again i would get Bar Pin elmintors for the front shocks. As far as shocks go I have Rubicon Express twins tubes and I dont like them the monotubes are suppose to be a bit nicers though.

Thanks for the responses, I understand that I'm not going to be able to get tires as well with my budget. I guess my biggest question now would be about which brands make a decently priced shock that gives decent performance? I don't know what to look for in a shock.

Thanks

I am using Rubicon Express 2" BB for my wife's 98 ZJ 5.9 + Upcountry springs as her OEMs have aLot of wear. I am looking to get approx 3.25" of lift from this.
RE 2" BB is p# RE8030 Lists for $239.95 and includes Shocks as well. Shocks in this ket will work 2." - 3.5" lift as well.
I don't get an awsome discount, but my cost is $225.00 + Sh. If anyone wants it from me Email or PM me if interested.
Thanks.

you guys do know that the "2 inch" BB boost from RE is realy a 1.75" inch lift?

im not saying its bad, i love RE...its the only thing on my jeep, except for my BB that is.

The full advertised lift on a BB is obtained by retaining the stock spring pads with the spacers. A good BB will come with the spacers and bump stop extenders. As stated above a BB with the addition of U.C. springs will net over 3". The only rub point, with 31x10.50 tires, will be the front lower control arms. This can be solved by adjusting the steering stops, or by installing modified WJ arms.

Kolak is good, just stay way from the RE Twin Tubes, I know he likes to sell those as a budjet shock.
