alright so driving home in the 94 5.2 4x4 zj. It started making a knocking noises like the valves or something then next thing I no it just dies.

I got it home. When I try to turn it over it turns but doesnt fire.

Any ideas what happened. Oil level hasnt changed and the block is solid

Its at a half tank. It has 230k miles so I guessing something had to break inside. . So im either gonna take her all apart and see if I can fix it. Or just get a new engine

Pull a valve cover and try to turn it over. See if the rockers move. If not, x2 on timing chain. You could pull the distributor cap too and see if the rotor turns, but I think the valve cover will be much easier.

Alright I got the intake manifold off.. the both the crank and camshalfs rotate when I turn the pully/vibration dampener. I have a feeling its the timing chain. But um not sure so thats the next thing ill be checking.

Pull the valve cover and watch the rockers....if it is a broken cam, then the front half may still turn when you move the pulley...Had that happen on a dakota I used to have...

if the timing chain was broke, the cam would not move when you turn the crank
