HELP! Car fan stays running!

Hello, I'm new to this forum, and I own a 02' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. And just last night when I turned off the car, it sounded as if there was a fan on, so I thought nothing of it, went in my house and came back this morning and now the battery is dead, what should I do? It turns on when I use jumper cables, and runs fine after.

It took the same amount of work to not answer his question as it would've to just tell him what needed to know.

It's not unusual for the fan to remain running after the vehicle has been turned off, but it usually isn't for too long. Was your battery low in power to begin with? Anything else might've done this, i.e. did you leave interior lights on or not shut a door all the way?

Haha, sorry for posting in the wrong threads, but I always make sure my doors are closed properly, and the lights off too. As far as the battery, I'm not too sure on how much power it has left. But I was also reading other threads such as this one http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/fan-stays-after-wj-off-496941/ and they're talking about relay switches, which one in particular would be the culprit?

oh please relax, helping the newbie out by reminding him he drives a Jeep not a car.
Oh and your answer seemed to help. might as well as insult him some more and ask if he left it in park with the keys in it.

I'm all about easy answers. Sometimes it's the simplest things people overlook. Maybe he was listening to the radio with the key in the on position. With the headlights on and A/C blowing.

mine did this. its the fan relay located under the passenger headlight. To replace it, you either have to cut a whole in the plastic under the light (easy method) or remove the front bumper and get it from there (harder way)

Mine did the same thing also, a first it wouldn't shut off then after it did shut off it wouldn't turn on creating an overheating problem, the problem is the fan relay.

the fans in grand cherokees are not set up to run after the ignition is turned off. if it keeps running you have a bad relay.

I typed "fan relay" on the autozone website and it gives me two results, "Relay - Radiator Cooling Fan Motor " "Relay - Aux. Engine Cooling Fan " which one is it exactly? And j.love, for YOUR information, its not only just a JEEP, its a S.U.V.
