On the main page before you actually log into a forum, http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/, you will see that if you read the description for each type of jeep, you will see the letters that correspond to the make. For instance you will see that Grand Cherokees are ZJ's 93-98 and WJs are 99-present. The only one not on there is the WK, which is the upcoming 2005 Grand Cherokee.

They are just factory designation "numbers" to differentiate between model changes. Most every manufacturer has them.

Porsche 911 - pre 1990 = 911 (turbo was the 930 and there was a 912 in the late 60's - 70's), 1990-1994 = 964 (turbo was the 965), 1995-early 1998 = 993, 1998-current = 996...Boxster is 986

Corvette - C3 - 1978-1982; C4 - 1984-1996; C5 - 1997-2004; C6 - 2005+

Mercedes - W124 - mid 80's - 1995 E-Class (except for the 190E which was a W201); W210 - 1996-2001 E-Class; W140 - 1992-1999 S-Class; W202 - 1994-2000 C-Class, W203 - 2001+ C-Class, W129 - 1992-2001 SL-Class

BMW - E30 - 1984-1991 3-Series, E36 - 1992-1998 3-Series, E24 - original 6-Series

mid 80's Plymouth Reliant/Dodge Aries - K-Car
