Heater freaking out on me

my 97' limited is freaking out on me lately. the heater/air controls or whatever you want to call it is going from dim to bright randomly on the temperature display and sometimes it just doesn't display anything at all. Nothing works, as in no air is being pushed out no matter what the settings are. I don't think it's a fuse because why would the display go off and on like that? Do you think I just need a new heater/air control unit entirely?

I would start by checking and making sure all the wires are tight. It sounds like it may be a loose wire.
