Heater Control Panel

Anyone have a manual control panel like this... with the RECIRC setting located on the center mode control switch?

Funny, yesterday I was looking at the differences between pre 96,96-97, and 98 zj's. That one is from a 98 like mine. Recirculate was moved from the right hand side of the knob to the left hand side. Other differences were the way the knobs were illuminated and knob diameter. I was out on junkyard day. One had the control in a 98. Ebay has them used.

I really want RECIRC with warm air, not just at the coldest end of the temp knob.

When you select RECIRC, which vents does the air come out from?

Any idea if it will work in a '94? The vacuum line mapping/functionality looks the same in both FSM's. If the electrical plugs and vacuum connector fit, it just might work.

On mine I think recirc is recirc oblivious to temp. Not sure about which vents but I think just the upper dash vents. I'll check when I go out. Even if its alittle different some vacumn hose connectors and pin out diagrams oughta get you there.

Most of the used manual control panels that I've seen for sale have all the vacuum lines snipped off in the back, rather than unplugging the inline connector. If those lines can't be disconnected/reconnected at the rear of the panel, then a panel with cut lines seems useless. Or are they expecting the buyer to splice all the vacuum lines?

So is the world of used parts. I looked up what I could find in the parts manual. Its kind confusing but here you go.4729350 is called speed control and vacumn harness and then 55115790 is called A/C, heater vacumn harness. Thats from a 96-98 manual.

Thanks for the info. The vacuum harness mounted to the back of each control panel is physically different... also some wiring differences. Before I get further into that... think I'll try Plan B.

Just reread your first reply. Actually on my 94, the RECIRC setting is on the far-left end of the temp control... not on the far-right end of the center mode control dial. (The little icon is blue like the cold temp setting) That's why the temp setting (in any mode) has to be at max cold to get recirc. Great for running the A/C in the summer, but in the winter there are times when I want warm air without the outside smells. Also faster to warm up the cabin in recirc during the winter. Guess that's why they finally moved recirc to the center mode control.... only took 4-5 years to get it right.
