Heated Mirror

Hey guys,

does anyone have any diagrams or procedures for heated mirror removal / tear down?

Remove the door panel and you'll see the 3 bolts that hold the mirror to the door.

thx

i should have stated my problem

mirror does not always go to the position set by the "memory" positions (Dirty Position Sensor Contacts?)

and heater element not working

both occuring on drivers side mirror

i'd like to get in and see about fixin in myself, how do i get right into all the guts of the mirror?

I'd start with the wiring before tearing in to the mirror.

Sorry, I'm not sure if you can open those mirrors up or not. I'd guess they are an assembly that is sealed, but I've never looked at one close enough to know for sure.

found some good stuff on wjjeeps

replacement mirror assembly = $450 =

Check local junk yards. I got a pair of heated mirrors off an 04 from a pick n pull for 28 bucks for the pair.

I learned the hard way on how to get the glass off. Luckily I already had purchased a pair off a junker. The glass has attached clips that clip into the face of the adjuster motor (for lack of a better term).

To remove the glass, push the bottom of the mirror in (which inturns pushes the top out) and then "slide" the glass upwards. When I broke mine apart I found that at manufacturing they actually stick a little glue in there for good keeping. I literally had to use a flat bar and pry pretty hard for it to pop out.

If the glass is out you set the glass with attached clips into openings and then you just slide the glass down which locks the clips in place.

Thanks a bunch guys!.....better be safe and try and find a replacement mirror before i tackle this...the scrap yard probably has no clue how much these mirrors are worth! haha....15$ would be nice!

since its 2 degrees out and snow was flyin today i probably wont get around to doin it this year.

looks like i'll be sraping that mirror this winter!
