Heat comes from vents when off

If I put my hvac to feet only it also comes out the head vents. And now I have it off and can feel the heat coming out of the vents still

Is the blower fan still running? Do you have automatic or manual HVAC controls?

I think it's auto matic it's a 97. And the blower motor is off. But the part I don't get is when I have it on feet it comes out all the vents but primarily comes out the feet

The doors have a foam cover on them that can rot away causing leaks, ATC door travel could be off. If its not too bad I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok no options work actually. I change the vents and no matter what vent I pick it comes out head only .
On the little display it does change but not physically
Bad because I can't defrost windshield and in the summer heat will be coming out even when it's off

Not likely that a plenum leak would cause your issue. Sounds more like the control box to me.

If it was a vacuum leak you would get defrost vents all the time. Do you have the ATC controls? The ATC system has a little LED display, the normal HVAC just has three knobs and an AC button.

The digital auto climate controls are buggy. Bad soldering. That is a known issue with them. Mine used to just stop blowing cold randomly and when I turned it on the next day it worked fine. My ac lines were still ice cold so I knew it was still working.
I ran into a Chrysler tech at the parts store and he suggested that the ATC was bad.

When I pulled the AC codes it just said it was a blend door issue which was caused by the auto controls malfunctioning. Kind of a wild goose chase. If I hadn't ran into that guy I would have pulled the dash apart for no reason to get to the blend doors.

The WJ's are the ones that have the blend door problems. ZJ's not as much.

ATC is all electronic, no vacuum, and generally sucky.

Thanks guys I'll be replacing it definitely before winter I need me a defroster lol.
I gave up on the slight rough idle for now I think that's the plenum gasket. My next project is to ez out a stud from my new 231 case and swap it in (VC was shot on 249) and then mess with the rear driveshaft length etc then tighten up the front end. Ball joints upper control arms etc.

Thanks guys
