have a chance to buy a really nice 1993 ZJ with the 5.2 BUT the owner says...

it rolls when its in park. I have been searching on here and it sounds like its the VC. Is there any way to check and see if that's really it? They want 1250 for it and the leather seats are mint and the vehicle has never been wrecked (car fax), and it has 148k on it. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like someone removed the front driveshaft. Which means the VC is bad for sure. Easy way to talk 400 off the price

Did this on my '93 with a '96 XJ 231 and a '96 dodge truck 231 input gear. Worked great! Was a pita to figure out I needed the other input gear.

Either a front axle shaft is broken, the differential is broken, or the drive shaft has been removed.
Figure out which. And add another 400$ for a, replacement viscous coupler in the case.
