Has anyone used a NV231DHD?

I'm going to be swapping my 249 TC in the next few weeks and was going to go with a 242 out of a 96 ZJ but i just found a 231 HD out of a durango and was all the input matches but it has no spedo hole. can this be fixed? would it work?

when i pulled the 231 i ended up using it came out of a dakota... thinking it would be stronger upgrade, it was not.

had a 25 spline output.... and the cain was no wider than the one in my 249.

since then i have not had much confidence on the so called "hd231"

but then again, it was out of a little dakota.
