Has anyone removed their ABS?

I want to know what would happen if I pulled the fuse, or disconnected it in another way?
Please don't tell me that ABS is safer, I just want to know if I can "unplug" it, for certain situations like off roading.

By the way my lift, tires, wheels, exhaust, and intake are on. I've only had the Jeep for 3 weeks.

Just curious why you want to? Have you had problems with abs and offroading?

Not with this rig, but in the past I have had a problem when going slow and wanted to stop, like on the edge of a rock or something and the ABS didn't let me stop.
I was also thinking about axle shafts in the future and wondering what would happen if I put in non ABS ones. Like if I broke one or wanted to switch out the cv's

If the ABS fails or is disabled, it fails "safe." That is, the brakes still work in the traditional old fashioned way.

After reading a little in the FSM about braking it seems the abs systems uses the acceleration switch to help monitor wheel speeds in 4wd. So i would think theres no need to disable it.

In 4wd it uses the wheel speed sensors and a mercury type acceleration switch to help monitor the braking and adjust accordingly.

At least in 4wd part-time it looks this way - if you have that option.

i read in a 4wd mag that abs can be unpredictable on steep declines.

My ABS has never engaged on the trail - as long as you keep your speed under control (no baja crapola), you won't have a problem with ABS at all.

yeah when i baja my jeep at the lake by my house and put on the brakes it is almost impossible to stop. i slam the brakes to the floor but it just keeps rollin. for that i would think no ABS is better. i read somewhere that its better in deep sand and dirt because it digs into the dirt without the ABS instead of just rolling with ABS. i dunno tho. just try to pull the fuse and see what happens.
