Handle on back hatch

Maybe somebody else has had this problem. When I pull on the handle for the back hatch it acts like its still locked. I pull on it a couple of times it finely releases. Is there something I can do for this?

Hi!

Try doing a search in this forum for "rear hatch" or "handle" and I believe I have seen a few threads related to that issue.

My ZJ is starting to show some of the same symptoms, I might look for the threads too.

It's just really dirty and gummed up. Use some degreaser on the latch mechanism and then some WD40 to lube it. Mine was the same way. The crud that came off was about like cosmoline. Works fine now.
