H4 to bi-xenon
Hey guys,

I searched through the forum and most of the hid conversion discussion has been about wjs. I have a 98 zj with a KOR headlight upgrade. This means i have euro spec headlight units with some upgrade wiring and PIAA 55/65w bulbs (which piaa claims emits at 100/110w).

I'm looking for some bi-xenon hids. Has anyone in hear installed a set of bi-xxenon lights? From what i understand, the bulb moves to create high/low look... is that correct?

Are these kits worth the money and should I purchase the 35w or 55w kit?
I'm thinking a 55w kit may be worth it.

For those out there that already have hids... are they worth it over the conventional halogen? check these out

let me know what you guys think. thanks

Don't use HIDs in the stock housings. US-Spec OR E-Code. The lens pattern makes the HID's horrible for other drivers. You need clear lens headlights to use HIDs. That's the best you can do for a ZJ. No projectors or anything are available yet, however you could always do a retrofit yourself. :)

I didn't think about the light pattern, is it really that scattered? The housing I have are a little different from stock with the pattern and are made of clear glass.

I don't want to retro fit anything. If it were as easy as plug and play I would possibly upgrade to hids, but if they make for a bad light pattern then i will not get them.

Any one else have any input?

The clear lenses will be alot better for HIDs than the regular ZJ ones, however, the beam will still be unfocused and scattered somewhat. PM Madrabbit if he doesn't chime in here, he's the lighting guru it seems.

Get this and do it the right way:

the ECE conversion you have (and i mean a real ECE conversion, none of that ebay "euro" crap) has glass lenses, however, they still have some optics on them, and thats what causes the out of beam scatter.

If you want brighter performance out of that very good kit, then ditch the piaa crap (55 watts is 55 watts, reguardless of their stupid marketing) and go with a higher wattage, good quality bulb, like the new fatboys, your upgraded wiring can handle it.

There is still no good option for ZJ HID lights, barring a one-off full retrofit to HID certified optics.

The time now is 08:55 PM.
